As from 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation will become applicable across the whole European Union thus creating a more stringent data protection regime with effective sanctions. Meanwhile, the media frequently report events of data protection breaches or non-compliance. This contributes to a growing awareness amongst the public of the importance of data protection. It has therefore become a key concern for many companies (from startups to multinationals) and public institutions. Data breaches do not only result in a risk of sanctioning from the authorities but also – and often most importantly – cause reputational damage (which can be detrimental to consumer trust).
This is why data protection is important for the success of your business!
The aim of this 2-hour workshop is to allow you to understand your main obligations as “data controller” or “data processor” and to assess to what extent your business is concerned.
In order to do so, we will tackle the following issues together:
- Do you process personal data?
- Are you concerned by data protection legislation?
- Are you processing sensitive data?
- What are you allowed to do with such data?
- Which other obligations do you have to comply with?
- Can you send the collected data to a third-party?
- What if you are not compliant? What are the sanctions?
Don’t hesitate to send us an email at the latest one week before the event (November 29, 2016) with the questions you would like us to address!
