Clinical Trials in Belgium : An important asset to preserve and consolidate

May 8, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

bannière Pharma.be 2579x1106

Belgium enjoys a worldwide reputation as leader in clinical research. The societal and economic footprint of the more than 1,500 clinical trials that run today in Belgium, is impressive. Belgian patients that are included in these trials receive free-of-charge early access to innovative therapies that are not widely available yet. The vivid biopharmaceutical ecosystem, in which the biopharmaceutical industry works closely together with academia and biotech companies, enhances knowledge creation, as well as medical innovation and employment in Belgium.

A new European regulation, harmonizing the procedures to approve and conduct clinical trials, is coming into force in July 2016.

This forum @ pharma.be  will assess the current environment for clinical trials in Belgium, with its strengths and weaknesses, and will evaluate our system’s readiness for even higher competition as from 2016 onwards.

In an open debate with all stakeholders involved, we will discuss the way forward and present our recommendations, so that Belgium maintains and even strengthens its position in this challenging and changing European context.

Speakers:

  • Greet Musch – FAMHP
  • Prof. Katelijne De Nys – UZ Leuven/CRM
  • Dr. Dirk Vander Mijnsbrugge – Pfizer
  • Richard Erwin – Roche Pharmaceuticals
