In October 2021, Princess Astrid, representing the King of Belgium, will lead a Belgian economic mission to the US. She will visit the following three cities on the East Coast: Atlanta, Boston and New York City. This mission aims to create opportunities for Belgian companies and to improve overall economic relations between Belgium and the US. More than 100 Belgian companies of various sizes, as well as politicians, journalists, public agencies, universities, and more have already registered for this important, high level mission.

Though there will be many interesting events organized as part of this week, there are a few we particularly want you to know about. We think these present a unique opportunity for you as a start-up. We know that getting access to the US market is a goal for many Belgian companies and we want to help you with that.
Depending on the stage that your company is at, the events can either be opportunities to learn, to find local business partners or to really pitch for funding.
BelCham, the Belgian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, is a central point for access to resources and market knowledge. They have an international network of start-ups and trusted corporate partners and are a driving force behind transatlantic business growth.
NUMA is an accelerator in New York. Their programs help international startups expand and scale in the US market through expert mentorship, targeted curriculums, and introductions to New York’s top corporates, entrepreneurs, and investors.
In Boston the focus of the event will be on life sciences: the participants will have the opportunity to network, to pitch and to hear the perspectives of top US health investors and entrepreneurs. They will provide their expert commentary, any tips for improvement, and various ways to tackle the US market faster and better. This two-hour event will feature networking opportunities, pitches from innovative startups, and in-depth roundtable discussions on the most pressing topics in healthtech. The event will take place in the prestigious Cambridge Innovation Center.
In New York there will be two separate events organized for startups in all sectors: a learning session by the Belgian-American Chamber of Commerce and a two-hour VC event which will feature networking opportunities, pitches from the most innovative startups, and in-depth roundtable discussions on the most pressing topics in tech. Here again, expert US VCs will guide our companies and give them professional input on how best to tackle the American market.
Both VC events, in Boston as well as in New York, will feature the testimonials of several Belgian start-up founders having succeeded in the United States.
In order to prepare you for the best, we will organize, together with our partner NUMA a virtual training session in order to optimize your speech for an American audience. This will happen a few weeks before the mission.
Apart from these events, there will be many other interesting activities during the mission. At this point, the overall program is still in progress and we will share it with you as soon as possible. We also make a personalized individual program for each participant that we will be building together with you.
As both Belgian and American press will follow the economic mission, this is also an ideal PR opportunity to get your company in the spotlight both at home and abroad.
