About speakers

Tom Braekeleirs 
Director
BlueHealth Innovation Center

 

Tom holds a master’s in Trade Sciences as well as Industrial Corporate Management. He has worked for 17 years in companies like EDS, Navision, and Microsoft, and switched careers in 2015 to run the Microsoft Innovation Center in Flanders, focusing on Healthcare innovation. Under his leadership, it transformed into the BlueHealth Innovation Center, a not-for-profit public-private partnership aiming to support the healthcare ecosystem with its digital transformation. Tom coaches startups. Additionally, together with his team, he activates students to consider an entrepreneurial career and helps healthcare players take the digital leap forward.

 

Giovanni Briganti 
Doctor of Medicine
Department of Psychiatry of Brussels Teaching Hospital

 

Giovanni, M.D., is a physician at the Department of Psychiatry of Brussels Teaching Hospital (CHU Bruxelles), and a Lecturer of Physiology at ES Santé School of Health. Furthermore, he works as a researcher in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics and lectures in Medical Technologies (AI & Health) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Since September 2020, Giovanni leads the AI4Health working group at AI4Belgium, the Belgian government’s Artificial Intelligence initiative.
