UCB Community Health Fund – Call for Research Projects

July 20 - September 30

What is it about?

This first Call for Projects aims to understand and reduce the medium- and long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health of vulnerable young people (15-24 years old). Concretely, we intend to support programs and services with a focus on young people from the most vulnerable communities including racial and ethnic minorities, refugees and asylum seekers, those with disabilities and certain health conditions, and those who are socio-economically disadvantaged. Following the World Health Organization, we adopt a holistic view of health, namely a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being.
The coronavirus pandemic and the unprecedented measures that were taken to contain its spread disrupt nearly every aspect of young people’s lives: health, social interactions, ability to study and work, financial resources, food insecurity and their protection from violence and abuse.
Through this Call for Projects, we want to dedicate resources to support the health and psychosocial well-being of vulnerable young people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in the communities where UCB operates. More specifically, we will fund two types of activities: Support and Research projects.

Who is it for?

Research: Provide funding to academic research teams/non-profit organizations to pursue cutting-edge social sciences research outside of UCB therapeutic areas regarding the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on young people’s health.

This Call for Projects targets existing research programs and new research endeavours within the countries where UCB has an office (see: https://www.ucb.com/worldwide-). Research programs should aim to understand and reduce the medium- and long-term needs of vulnerable young people due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants should be used within 24 months upon award of funding.
For-profit, individuals and commercial organizations are excluded from funding.
